The Department of Theatre and Film at the University of Colorado Denver is proud to present the American premiere of a contemporary Irish play that addresses the delicate but necessary healing and reconciliation for those Irish women incarcerated in Ireland’s Magdalene Laundries.  Patricia Burke Brogan’s Stained Glass At Samhain (pronounced (/ˈsɑw ;wɪn/) , examines this suppressed chapter of Irish Catholicism from the point of view of the nuns who worked in these institutions throughout Ireland.  The play focuses on the spiritual healing and reconciliation of those involved.  It encourages a dialogue of forgiveness and redemption.

A special talk will immediately follow the show featuring Judy Murphy who is Arts Editor and Features writer with The Connacht Tribune, Ireland’s largest regional newspaper. In that capacity she has covered all the major arts and theatre stories originating from the West of Ireland, with particular focus on the Druid Theatre Company and the Galway Arts Festival. Judy will be officially representing playwright Patricia Burke Brogan who wrote the play.
